UTTARAN- CAREER GUIDANCE WORKSHOP FOR THE STUDENTS

On 27^th September 2022, Arambagh Sub-Divisional Administration and District Employment Exchange, Arambagh, jointly organized a comprehensive “Career Guidance Workshop” at the office of the Sub-Divisional Officer, Arambagh. The idea is first of its kind in this Sub-Division, This was a pilot project with a selective group. The selected students of class XI and XII from six schools of Arambagh were invited to participate in the pilot workshop. The objective of the workshop was to guide the students in the right direction so that they can plan their future and successfully reach their desired goals. At the end of the event, ‘UTTARAN’-A handbook of courses and careers for school students, compiled by Deputy Director of Employment, District Employment Exchange, Arambagh under the overall guidance and support of SDO, Arambagh, was distributed to the teachers. The Sub-Divisional administration is planning to organise more such events in future in coordinated manner.

RED CROSS PARKING

A great initiative has been taken by the Sub-Divisional officer to provide SHG women a parking slot in sdo office campus. Such Car parking system is also functioning at Khanakul.

SHG CANTEEN

An office canteen is being run successfully by SHG women (Tripti Canteen) is the vicinity of SDO Office, which caters to the public visiting govt. offices and also others.

It has become a model project for other SHG women to become entrepreneurs

BIRTH PLACE OF SRI RAMKRISHNA PARAMHANSHA

Kamarpukur,in Goghat II block under Arambagh Sub-Division, is the birthplace of Shri Ramakrishna Dev, the divine massager and the great prophet. It is centered with its serenity and divine essence that gives a taste of our forgotten roots. Ramkrishna Jayanti Utsav is organised every year to celebrate the birth anniversary of Ramakrishna. Adjacent to it is Shri Shri Maa Saradadevi’s birthplace,i.e.-Jayrambati  which is nearly 7 kms away from Kamarpukur temple. The simplicity and pantheism attracts many devotees.

BIRTH PLACE OF RAJA RAMMOHAN ROY

The small village of Radhanagar Khanakul, is the birthplace of Raja Ram Mohan Roy, the great 18th Century reformer, credited with the establishment of Brahmo Samaj and abolishment of Sati. There is also a beautiful memorial built as a copy of his original resting place in Bristol, with small quantities of soil brought in from the original samadhi itself. On the eve of 250^th Year celebration of birth anniversary, it got Heritage status by the Heritage Committee of West Bengal Govt.

CHANDUR FOREST

Chandur forest, a great ecological spot commonly taken as a picnic spot by the locals and others as well which is nearly 3 kms away from the Sub-Divisional Headquarter.

GAR MANDARAN

Gar Mandaran (গড় মান্দারন) is a village and a gram panchayat in the Goghat II Block under  Arambag subdivision of the Hooghly district in the state of West Bengal,

The ruins of a fort at Gar Mandaran provided the setting for Bankim Chandra Chatterjee’s novel Durgeshnandini. It  is a romantic novel, based partly on history and partly on hearsay. The story centres around the attack and occupation of Gar Mandaran stronghold of Raja Birendra Singh, linked to the Bishnupur Raj, by the Pathans who were then entrenched in Odisha. Mainly the place is highly recognised as a tourist spot for picnic. At present the Govt. Has taken initiative to build cottage there under the supervision of Zilla Parishad.
