SVEEP 2023

Additional Chief Electoral Officer & Deputy Chief Electoral Officer of West Bengal today ( 08 – 11 – 2023 ) interacted with District Magistrate & District Election Officer, Hooghly and other District Officials regarding SSR-24 Activities & Preparatory actions on ensuing PGE-2024. Later,they also visited few Polling Stations under 190-Chinsurah AC accompanied by ADM(Election) & interacted with the BLOs & Supervisors. A SVEEP Campaign for voters’ education & greater electoral participation and experience sharing exercise with newly enrolled electors has also been held at the Collectorate Campus, Hooghly and Hooghly Mohsin College Campus.

Systematic Voters’ Education& Electoral Participation Program (SVEEP):

Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation program, better known as SVEEP, is the flagship program of the Election Commission of India for voter education, spreading voter awareness and promoting voter literacy in India. Since 2009, Election is working towards preparing electors and equipping them with basic knowledge related to the electoral process.

SVEEP’s primary goal is to build a truly participative democracy in India by encouraging all eligible citizens to vote and make an informed decision during the elections. The programme is based on multiple general as well as targeted interventions which are designed according to the socio-economic, cultural and demographic profile of the state as well as the history of electoral participation in previous rounds of elections and learning thereof.

EVM-VVPAT Awareness during Lok-Sabha Election-2019

Around 600 Folk Artistes were engaged in EVM-VVPAT awareness programmes across Darjeeling, Kurseong, Mirik, Siliguri and different blocks. The awareness programmes were carried out through skits, songs and short videos. Departmental experts and trained artistes made the general public aware of the functioning of EVM & VVPAT

National Voters’ Day (NVD)

India celebrates this day on January 25 every year. The purpose of celebrating National Voters’ Day is to make the youth aware of voting. It was first celebrated on January 25, 2011. It is celebrated to mark Commission’s foundation day.
